Antarctica Air Cruises

Thanks to a short flight to King George Island in the South Shetland Archipelago, we present an unbeatable travel solution which allows you to experience, in perfect harmony, the traditional fascination of exploration with the advantages of an improved efficiency.

Flying over the Drake Passage represents an enormous advantage of optimising the time needed to travel to a remote place like Antarctica. It allows you to enjoy the best part of our experience, whilst avoiding the longer and sometimes uncomfortable crossing of the mythical Drake Passage. This also means an extra two precious days added to your holiday.

This is a sample itinerary. We do our utmost to guarantee the best experience, unfortunately we have no control over the weather or wildlife behaviour. Ports of embarkation and disembarkation and sites may change depending on vessel and departure dates, weather- and ice conditions.

  • Punta Arenas

Arrival at the city of Punta Arenas where you will be met by our staff, to be transferred to the hotel. During the afternoon, you will receive instructions concerning the guidelines that should be followed in Antarctica and the procedures for Zodiac boat embarkation and disembarkation. Later, you will be invited to gather for a welcome dinner together with your expedition mates and you will have the chance to enjoy a typical Magellan menu.
N.B. Passengers should be in Punta Arenas at 15:00 hours, at the latest. Pick-up at Punta Arenas airport and transfer to the hotel are not guaranteed for passengers arriving later than 15:00 hours.

Flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island

Our Antarctic adventure will begin with the flight from Punta Arenas to King George Island (South Shetland Islands). The flight takes a little less than two hours. Upon arrival, we will tour around the area where Frei Chilean Base and the Bellingshausen Russian Base are located. We will gather at the beach on Fildes Bay for embarkation by Zodiac boats on board our expedition vessel.

  • 6, 7, 8 or 10 days of cruising South Shetland islands and Antarctic Peninsula

Cruise between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, sailing along ice-filled fjords and among spectacular icebergs, while enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Each day, disembark by Zodiac and explore the landscape together with expert polar guides. On board the ship, attend an engaging program of lectures and presentations, and enjoy spectacular vistas from the glass-enclosed lounge while sharing your daily adventures with fellow guests. Your voyage may include visits to sites such as Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel, or many other magnificent places.
On the 10 days voyage, the goal of the expedition is to sail far south in the attempt of reaching the Polar Circle. The Expedition Team sets the specific voyage route based on local conditions, and takes advantage of the ever-changing opportunities provided by Nature. Flexibility will be the key to a successful voyage. The 10 days expedition may include visits to sites such as Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, the Lemaire Channel, Prospect Point or other magnificent places.
